The CPAmatchup^® Business Model

CPAmatchup is not a traditional business broker service. Traditional business brokers are usually interested in immediate sales because that is where their cash revenue comes from. Similarly, many owners of established accounting practices considering business succession seek to implement an outright sale because they prefer to be cashed out. We realize that many young CPAs do not have the capital to buy or buy-into an established practice.  CPAmatchup takes a different approach in its business model: we provide an information source, we provide resources to match up "Transferor" and "Transferee," and treat any required follow-up as a consulting engagement. Our business model is based on a vehicle that allows a young CPA to take over or buy-into a practice whose owner, for a variety of reasons, is prepared to finance the next generation. Alternatively, some practitioners may not be interested in an ultimate sale, but seek an association. Here too we can help by providing an informational site where interested parties can find one another.

For example, in some cases the owner of a small practice does not want to sell immediately but wants to gradually reduce her work load. She does not have, nor can she afford, a professional staff member who can take on the work. Bringing in her replacement early provides her with that resource without incurring the expense of a costly employee. The benefit to the young CPA is that he has the opportunity to start on the road to owning a going concern without the normal immediate capital infusion requirements. The cost to the young CPA is that he works for some period of time where a significant portion of his current compensation goes toward the buy-in.

Another example is a practitioner without a technical staff who would like to have an association with another practitioner so that he can have time off occasionally without negatively impacting his business or his clients. CPAmatchup can be the place where he finds another professional with the same objective.
